Before (plain, blah... the wall color is off too.)
The polka dot, below, was my first attempt at fabric covering, and I think it turned out pretty nice... and the coating on top makes it wipe-able.What do you think? It's not perfect by any means. And, yes, I realize that my switch plates probably need a good scrubbin'... but the point is that it makes me smile. And I like things that make me smile. :-)
Very cute! I may have to steal that idea when we get into the house... :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, I am sorry about your parent's dog. I am a true sucker/softie when it comes to animals, so I can only imagine how they feels after losing their faithful companion.
Wendy, What kind of paper did you use? I really love it! I've covered some of mine with wallpaper scraps.

Looks great! I'll probably eventually steal this idea, as well (-:
ReplyDeleteThough I don't usually promote "whatever makes you happy" this is definitely a safe kind of happy thing. I'm glad you could do it.
ReplyDeleteJenny, you can use practically anything. For adhesive, you can buy decoupage glue from a craft store like Hobby Lobby...or modge podge, which is cheaper and easier to find. Wallpaper adhesive works, too, and is sometimes even less expensive.
ReplyDeleteI used scrapbooking paper. After adhering it, just add another topcoat of adhesive. For extra durability (and wipe-ability!) you can spray on a coat of polyurethane or Kilz clear coat. Easy as pie. :-)
And, ladies, feel free to take the idea. I've always heard that imitation is the purest form of flattery! :-)
ReplyDeleteHey Wendy. I sent you and email about the stuff.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Elizabeth. I just got it.
ReplyDeleteI would never think of doing that. Never. Man, you are one creative chick! Can you come decorate my house...please...we've been here 8 years, and it looks like we just moved in!
