Diet Coke Mentos Eruption

Last week, when it was still frightfully cold outside, I added in some extra science experiments. Because --BAH-- I despise cold weather, but I had to do something to at least get in the sunshine.
Enter Diet Coke Mentos Experiment:

My Dash-boy pulled the string before I was actually ready to tape,
hence the shaking crazy video.

Do you see that? My 3-year old's hand?
That, friends, is excitement.
I'd be willing to bet he was on tip toes in those snow boots.
Before, and again after, the experiment, we read and talked about how and why this works.

A big thanks to my sister, Julie, for providing another wonderful (and messy) Christmas gift for my children. Expect repayment. ;)

  1. How fun!

Have you tried freezing bubbles during any of the cold weather we've had? This week would be a good one to try it. We always blow our bubbles at night then see how many are left the next morning. It's the coolest thing!

  2. Jenny, we haven't tried it this season yet! I did it last year, and we had a great time. Thanks for the reminder! I also bought some spray bottles so we can use food coloring and "paint" the snow outside. :)
