School Days

Trev started preschool at Tender Care on Tuesday. I can't believe it!! Of course, at this age, they don't teach all that much, so it's more like a 3-hour playdate. But it's great fun for him, and wonderful for me to be able to spend that extra time working more intensely with the bigger kids. We got some schoolwork done in half the time it usually takes us!
Of course, I'm still teaching Trevor the alphabet and numbers, colors, etc at home. But I'm glad that he can have fun somewhere else, too. He just walked right in and started playing. He didn't even say good-bye. Little rascal! Of course, he knows Miss Johnna from church, and he knew most of the other kids already, too.

And here are some pictures of Isabelle and Ethan working on their math and Bible lessons on Tuesday.

Tonight the kids did Team KID and seemed to really enjoy that. This is the time of year that starts to get super busy for us. It will help that we aren't doing sports this season, though.
Tomorrow is pre-K, CHESS card pick-up, gotta drop off some bills, and then go to book study. Friday is Mothering Matters and lunch date. Saturday is Dad's birthday party... and so forth. I think we have every day booked for awhile... I like staying busy, but my house starts to go to pot.

You do like staying busy! I stay busy too, but I don't know how you handle your kind of busy... I'm not sure how I handle my kind of busy! I would like to be busy more like you. I think it would be good for my kids. I'm going to try to move that direction starting on September 16th... I think it has something to do with routine (my key word lately).

I was in pre-school from K-3 to K-5, and (while it WAS a fun play day), I learned a lot from the experience. In fact, I wrote a post dedicated to my positive daycare experience. You probably didn't know about it, since I don't believe we were cyber-friends then. I'll put a link on my blog for you! :-) If you have any spare time!

Thanks for the link, Ann-Marie. I also feel the pressure from being a Christian mom who has chosen to put a preschooler in preschool! Uh, oh. I've gone and done a big bad "no, no" for Christian parents. It makes it even worse that I'm a stay-at-home-mom and then I'm really thrown to the bottom of the pit for being a homeschool mom who would dream of doing such a thing! But it works for us, and he is learning great things! :-)

I have to say, though, that I understand that mom's dilemma. It's the mother instinct for many of us to want to stay at home with our kids at all costs. I would have such a hard time leaving mine!! I did go to school full time when they were smaller, and it was very difficult.
I'd say her hubby should find a more suitable job and step up to the task of supporting his family. It is HIS job.

And, another point... Trev is just in pre-K 6 hours TOTAL a week... so it's not like I'm leaving him with strangers all day every day. I know some kids seem to do fine with that, but I just wouldn't dream of it...
