Haven't seen it, can't play Scene It

All of my family came over Friday night: my parents, sisters Julie and Amy and their husbands and the kids. We ate salad, pizza, chocolate eclairs, leftover VDay chocolates, cookies, rootbeers... and coffee. Yep, even after 10pm, we were all chugging down cups of joe. We're a coffee-lovin' family. Of course, after lunchtime I can only have decaf, or I'll be up all night. It was a regular gorge fest, plus games.
We started out just chowing down while we watched He-Man. Yep, you heard right. Hubby just ordered the first 6 (?) DVDs of He-Man and he has already gotten the boys obsessed with it. It's not at all unusual now for me to see Trevor bounding down the hallway in his batman mask, Spiderman pjs, holding his light saber, shouting "by the power of gray skull." Then Ethan declares that he is He-Man and Trevor can be battle cat.

At first I was like, whoooaa now, there are some things in this cartoon that I don't like. The women dress like...well, just not like women should dress. And the skull face bad guy just isn't something I really like. But I decided to back off. Fred is the Daddy. He was a boy and now he's become a great father...and who am I to deprive his boys of He-Man?

Apparently Fred was not the only once-obsessed little boy. My brothers-in-law, Adam and Vu, were glued to the screen as soon as they walked in. I heard lengthy conversations about how He-Man was like Superman, and how Adam always got to be He-Man because of his name (like Clark Kent is Superman, Adam is really He-Man, for those who need a refresher!) It was quite amusing.
After we peeled the men from the cartoons, we started Scene It. Ha! I don't watch TV. I don't watch movies. Is there any doubt that I would totally stink at this game? In my own defense, though, I did get ONE answer right! What little blue fish sings "just keep swimming, just keep swimming?"...

...well, Dory in Finding Nemo, of course! Yea for me! ;-)

After the awful beating I took in that game, we moved on to Nerts (is that right, Julie?) It's a card game, played with four decks of cards. It's fast-paced, and was much more my style.
You know things are getting serious when Fred and Vu turn their hats around!

Adam and I won that game. Julie declared that it was more my kind of game. (yeah, one with no questions, right?? Heh heh)
Anyway, it was so much fun. I love to play games. I'm so grateful to be close to my family, and see them all often.

That is funny about He-Man. I used to watch that as a child! Hilarious- because I am the most girly-girl.

Sounds like a good time..chocolate eclairs and all :)

I watched He-man too...when I lost on the draw for My Little Pony... Anyway you obviously had a blast! I would so enjoy a night like that!

Sorry, I don't know why that's there twice...

That is so funny!
I don't remember watching any regular cartoons. My sister was crazy over My Little Pony. I had a Rainbow Bright doll that I loved, but I don't think I watched the cartoon.

Um, so I loved He-Man! I still have the Ram-Man action figure. Seriously. I found him mixed in with all my Strawberry Shortcake dolls the other day.

I loved watching the cartoon - I remember yelling, "I have the power!" all over the house, and my mom yelling, "No, you don't." right back at me. Hilarious! I also watched the newly re-mastered episodes on my Netflix list, so I can identify.

And, no surprise, I kick- butt at Scene It. If we lived there, I'd totally be your partner!

P.S. - I agree about the women's outfits! But, you have to admit, the men were dressed pretty, um, feminine, too.

Ann-Marie makes a good point about the men's outfits. I think Skeletor might get kicked out (or arrested!) if he went to the mall like that. I don't know much about He-man, but I thought it was pretty dang hilarious.
I'm so upset about the way the re-designed the My Little Ponies. So upset.
We had such a great time at your house. You're a great hostess! Only, you forgot to mention how awesome I was at Scene-It. The only reason I say that is because I did so terribly at Nertz (poor Mom was actually pretty good but I brought us down). You and I are reversed in that respect.

I love Nertz! Haven't played in a long time - my husband always wins!

Just what are those Woods up to? said...

Scene it sucks! But I love Nertz! Gets the good ol adrenaline going!

I had a great time, and we definitely should do that regularly.

Did you hear Adam say he's going to make me an Evillynn costume and he'll be Skelator? He's threatened that for years. I try not to remind him...so thanks alot, Fred (-:

The mental image of Skeletor trying to fit in at the mall made me laugh out loud. Too funny!

Redesigned My Little Ponies? Sory, girl, I guess I haven't noticed. Isabelle really isn't into those. She likes horse and (gasp) Barbies. Didn't I always say I'd never let MY daughter play with Barbies, with those strange and awful body shapes. Heh heh. Things change, I guess.

Oh, Julie, that would be AWESOME!! I told Fred and he laughed his tush off. ;-)

Ann-Marie, I just told my sister Amy (arato girl) that you remind me so much of her. Except with her it's cats, not bunnies. ;-)

We always called it Pounce.

Oh, gee, Amy....did I forget to mention that you...ahem...slaughtered us all in Scene It. My bad.
